Layered in Comfort: Creating Our Earthy Bedding Retreat

Updated: Jul 29

One of the first rooms I wanted to finish in our home was the bedroom. I wanted it to feel warm, grounded, and inviting—a place that felt like us. The bed itself is a black poster bed from Perigold with bold, geometric lines that make just enough of a statement. It anchors the room and set the tone for the rest of the space.

Above the bed is a piece of artwork that means more than most people might realize at first glance. It’s a large bear photo from Uttermost—a vendor I worked with back when I was at La-Z-Boy. I actually bought that exact print as a gift for my mom a few years ago because I knew she’d love it. She recently hung it above her bed, and now we both have matching bears. Funnier still, we live on Golden Bear Drive, so it felt only right to hang it above our own bed too. It’s a subtle nod to family and home, and it makes me smile every time I walk into the room.

Now for the part that really makes this space a retreat: the bedding.

I’ve layered several textures and tones to create the coziest setup we’ve ever had:

    •    Sheets + Duvet Cover: From Cozy Earth—they’re buttery soft and temperature-regulating. Once we tried them, I swore I’d never use anything else.

    •    Quilted Blanket + Plaid Comforter Set: Both from Amazon and perfect for adding warmth and texture. The plaid adds just enough pattern without overwhelming the space.

    •    Fuzzy King Blanket: It’s the kind of blanket you don’t want to share, but somehow always do.

    •    Three Euro Shams: A simple finishing touch that gives the bed that full, plush feel.

We went with deep brown sheets, which pull in the earthy tones from the art and bed frame. Altogether, it feels like a grounded, peaceful space with a cozy cabin-meets-modern vibe.

Everything was found on Amazon, and I’m linking it all below for anyone looking to recreate something similar.

Sometimes the best part of the day is getting into bed. With the way everything's layered; the weight, the texture, the warmth - I could honestly stay here all day. The kind of bedding you could hibernate in.
