Dinosaur-Themed Cake for a Sweet One-Year-Old 🦖🎂

There’s something so special about being asked to make a cake for someone’s big day—especially when it’s a first birthday! I’m always flattered when friends and family trust me to help bring their celebration vision to life, and this one was extra fun.

My sister-in-law’s little boy turned one, and the theme for his party was dinosaurs—so naturally, we had to make sure his smash cake matched the prehistoric party vibes!

The cake turned out absolutely adorable—a sweet little dinosaur-inspired design that was just the right size for the birthday boy to dig into. It had fun textures, playful colors, and just enough detail to tie into the theme without being too fussy for a little one to enjoy.

Smash cakes are always one of my favorite things to make. There’s something so joyful about watching a baby experience their first taste of cake (and frosting!)—and being part of that moment through something homemade makes it even more meaningful.
